I chose to do my analysis on "Simple Man" by Lynyrd Skynyrd. This is a well know southern rock song that show a conversation between a mother and her son. The mother in the song is basically telling her son all of the things that will help him to be a good person throughout his life. This song uses ballad, slant rhyme, connotation, and lyrics. These elements are what make this song such a good tune. I would I identify this song as a ballad because it tells a story. The story being told in this song is a mother telling her son how to be a good person and how to succeed in life. The mother asks her son to be a simple man and to do thing such as praise god.
